The Siegestar project grew out of the Assaultstar design utilized by the Colonial Marines. The Brahma class was heavily based off of the Cerberus class Assaultstars from the Cylon War. The design was derived from the Indra class Battlestars, and were designed by Librian Defence Systems. Originally intended to transport and support an entire Division of Marines, the project was nearly cancelled. The Fleet Admiralty determined it was cheaper to convert older Columbia/Galactica class Battlestars as they were replaced by newer models. Libran Quorum Representative Dalia Istar disagreed with the Admiralty. She threw all of her support behind the Siegestar project, and blocked many fleet projects. After months of this the Admirals relented, and the Brahma was launched two years later.

Although an excellent design on paper, the Brahma class was plagued with problems. The Computer systems were inadequate to handle the enormous system load. The ship’s wiring was atrocious. The enormous number of launch tubes actually led to serious problems with the flight pods structural integrity. The engines intercoolers were not able to compensate for the excess heat generated. Only three months after her launch, the Brahma was back in her slip undergoing upgrades and retrofits to fix these and other problems. Construction of the Vishnu and Shiva were delayed. Another year passed before the Brahma left the shipyard again. Additional issues reared their ugly heads, and the Brahma had to actually be towed back to Libra for additional work. After six months dockside the Brahma was underway. Construction of the Vishnu was complicated with all of the modifications made to Brahma, but she was completed within another year. Shiva was initially cancelled, but was later completed as a standard Indra class Battlestar. Representative Dalia Istar lost her seat on the Quorum of Twelve over the debacle.

When the major upgrade program was proposed for the Indra class, there was talk of bringing Brahma and Vishnu up to the same standards. This idea was quickly dropped with the development of the City class Siegestar. The Brahma was decommissioned only thirteen years after her commissioning. She was expended as a live-fire target in fleet exercises.

Under President Adar’s predecessor, the fleet was directed to secretly use the Vishnu as the lead vessel in Operation “Distant Star”, a long-range exploration expedition away from the Red Line and the Cylons. The Vishnu was officially retired and scrapped in Colonial Fleet records. She was fitted up for her mission, and sent out with several support ships seven years prior to the fall of the Colonies. The mission was kept a complete secret for political reasons in case anything went wrong.

Hello:

Wow, very good work coming out for a story for the ship and to make those deck layouts! Those aextremely useful to make a proper idea of the ship's capabilities... as well as a good helping hand for stories or rpgs :) .

Keep it up!
